Clearer Skin with Cryotherapy

Effortless removal of unwanted skin imperfections

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is an advanced treatment designed to safely and effectively remove benign skin lesions with precision and care. Using innovative CryoPen technology, liquefied nitrous oxide is applied in a controlled manner to gently freeze the targeted tissue. This process works by rapidly lowering the temperature within the cells, forming microscopic ice shards that break down the unwanted tissue, allowing it to be naturally eliminated by the body over time.

Renowned for its efficiency and convenience, cryotherapy is a quick and well-tolerated treatment, with most procedures taking only seconds. It requires no anaesthetic and involves minimal discomfort, with a low risk of scarring. With little to no downtime, you can return to your daily routine immediately, simply taking care to protect the treated area as it heals.

Benefits of Cryotherapy

  • Effectively treats a wide range of benign skin lesions with controlled precision across varying sizes.

  • Procedures are performed efficiently, with many lesions treated in a matter of seconds.

  • Carefully delivered treatment appropriate for delicate regions, including the face and periocular area.

  • Advanced accuracy allows for the treatment of unwanted tissue while preserving the integrity of surrounding skin.

  • Designed to maximise patient comfort, with minimal discomfort during and following treatment.

  • Patients can resume normal activities immediately, with only minor aftercare to support optimal healing.

Treatment Method

  1. Initial Freeze Phase

The CryoPen applicator is positioned with precision close to the lesion, delivering a controlled burst of cold directly to the targeted area. The device is gently moved towards and away from the skin to ensure accurate treatment. Depending on the size and depth of the lesion, this stage typically lasts between 1 and 30 seconds.

  2. Thawing Phase

Following the initial application, the treated tissue is allowed to gradually thaw over approximately 30 seconds. This process supports the controlled breakdown of the targeted cells.

  3. Secondary Freezing Phase

A second, more rapid freeze cycle is then applied. This enhances the effectiveness of the treatment by ensuring thorough destruction of the unwanted tissue

Treatment Considerations

  • Temporary changes in pigmentation, such as lightening or darkening of the skin, can occur following cryotherapy. These effects are usually short-term but may last longer in some cases. Your practitioner will discuss this with you prior to treatment.

  • Many lesions respond well to a single session. However, some may require additional treatments depending on their size, depth, and type.

  • Darker skin types may be more sensitive to cryotherapy and have a higher risk of pigmentation changes. A personalised consultation will help determine the most suitable approach for your skin.

  • For most lesions, cryotherapy offers a long-term or permanent solution. Some areas may require further treatment if the lesion proves more resistant.

  • Cryotherapy is designed to minimise the risk of scarring. In most cases, any marks are minimal and fade over time, especially when aftercare guidance is followed.

  • A small blister may form following treatment and can last a few days. Healing time varies, but most areas recover within 2–6 weeks depending on the lesion and treatment depth.

  • If a blister develops or breaks, keep the area clean and apply a suitable antiseptic. Covering the area can support healing and help protect the skin.
